  • While every intake session is different, and every therapist has their own unique style, you can expect that your therapist will provide a warm and inviting space for you to begin to share your past, current challenges, and hopes for the future. Your therapist may ask questions to help you get started, or you might feel comfortable jumping right in where it feels right to you. You get to set the pace, and you get to decide what you do and don’t share.

  • Typically, therapy sessions last 53-60 minutes. However, at times, a session may only last 30-45 minutes. Sessions with younger children may also be shorter.

  • Each and every person has their own length of therapy depending on their needs. Some individuals prefer to work quickly through specific goals and may only come to a few sessions. Others may have a lifetime of hurt to overcome and may benefit from ongoing therapy for years. While your therapist may make a recommendation for length or frequently of sessions, it is always up to the individual to decide what it best.
