A note from Emma
Children, Adolescent, Teen & Adult Therapist
I am a Temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (T-LMHC) with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Drake University. As a therapist I believe in the importance of human connection. I aim to create an empathic therapeutic space that is non-judgmental and welcoming to everyone. I strive to be an ally for all and am dedicated to lifelong learning and advocacy to better serve clients.
I am a generalist and integrate a variety of modalities with a trauma-informed lens. I often find myself aligning with person centered and holistic approaches. Person centered therapy is a non-directive approach that empowers the client to take lead in the therapeutic process. A holistic approach means understanding the impact of relationships, childhood experiences, and the bigger societal context we live in. Part of having a trauma informed lens means I understand trauma responses and how emotions and trauma are held in the body.
I have experience working with children, teens, and adults addressing a wide range of client needs. I have experience in adjustment issues, autism, generalized anxiety, emotional identification and regulation skills and life transitions. I utilize attachment work, play therapy techniques, somatic techniques, CBT, ACT, IFS, with a psychodynamic background.
